What Is Telepuk?
An introduction to the Malay art of decorating cloth with repeated applications of gold.
Telepuk is a traditional Malay textile art in which gold is applied to prepared cloth using finely carved wooden blocks. The beauty of the surface comes from repetition, restraint and the way light meets the fabric.
More than decoration
Its materials, motif language and uses carry social and cultural meaning. Responsible continuation therefore joins technical practice with documentation and education.
